Out of their eight NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships, 2012 is among the most memorable and historic for the Kentucky Wildcats. After successfully capping off an undefeated run through regular season conference play in the SEC and spending most of the year at number one in the rankings, this team finished their championship season with a record of 38-2, setting the record for the most wins in NCAA history. The Wildcats also set the single-season team record with 344 blocks, thanks largely in part to their superstar freshman, Anthony Davis. With 186 blocks himself, the Consensus National Player of the Year set the record for most blocks by a freshman in a season, which is still good for fourth on the all-time single-season block list. Davis’ play in that season cemented his position as the clear number-one pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.
