Description
The Rookie of the Year Award has been given out every year since Don Meineke captured the honor for the Fort Wayne Pistons in 1953. In the 65 years the award has been given out, 28 of the winners have been selected for inclusion into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. That list doesn’t include sure-to-be Hall members Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Needless to say, it’s unique company. Philadelphia 76ers forward Ben Simmons became the latest ROY winner after his impressive 2017-18 season. He averaged 15.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game while leading the club to a 52-30 and the second round of the playoffs. This designed piece features seven images from throughout his record-setting rookie campaign that included notching 12 triple-doubles. The piece also calls out his monthly award wins at the bottom. Simmons has autographed and inscribed “12 Tpl-Dbls” on this “Rookie of the Year” 36” x 15” image in silver paint pen. His signature and inscription are deemed authentic by virtue of Upper Deck Authenticated’s Five-Step Process.
