By the time Dennis Rodman agreed to be featured on the cover of the May 29,1995 issue of Sports Illustrated he had appeared on several Sports Illustrated Covers already, for this cover he wanted to do something different than just a regular uniform photoshoot. Rodman’s decision to wear a shiny black tank top, metallic hot pants, and a rhinestone dog collar while seated in a leopard-print patterned chair with a parrot on his arm fit his persona as a “Rare Bird” perfectly. While Rodman’s outfit may have seemed risqué at the time this issue became one of Sports Illustrated’s best-selling May issues ever. While Rodman’s personality off the court is as unique and colorful as any in sports, on the court he has put together one of the most successful careers of any NBA player winning 5 NBA titles, appearing in 2 All-Star games, and winning 7 NBA rebounding titles.
This Sports Illustrated cover print from May 29, 1995, is autographed by Dennis Rodman. Rodman’s signature was witnessed by an Upper Deck representative as part of UDA’s 5-step authentication process. This item is limited to 91.
