Jari Kurri was the first Finnish player to ever be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Kurri was inducted in 2001 after recording 601 goals, 797 assists and 1,398 points. Of the 601 career goals, 106 of them came during the postseason. The Lady Byng Memorial Trophy is awarded to the NHL player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship combined with a high standard of playing ability. Kurri was awarded the Lady Byng Trophy for his performance in the 1984-85 season.
