Possessing one of the most feared wrist shots in NHL history, Joe Sakic was a menace with the puck at the end of his stick. He shot found the back of the net 625 times, which puts him 15th on the all-time list. When he captained the Colorado Avalanche — the only NHL organization he ever played for — against the Detroit Red Wings, it was a rivalry for the ages throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. Even though the rivalry began when the Avalanche were in Quebec, it heated up during those two decades as the two teams combined to win five Stanley Cups in a seven-year span from ’96-’02. Sakic was literally at the center of many of those battles. In 55 career games against the Red Wings, the 20-year veteran scored 19 goals and notched 56 points.
