Description
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly every junior level hockey league, tournament, and event was cancelled during the 2020-2021 season, leaving every young prospect anxious to get back on the ice in looking to raise their draft stock. After not being able to participate in any hockey competition in over 400 days, Shane Wright proved to not miss a beat over the pandemic-ridden season as he displayed high levels of energy and intensity while leading Team Canada against the rest of their international opponents at the 2021 IIHF U18 World Championship in Frisco, Texas. As the Canadian captain, seventeen-year-old Wright began the tournament with an exceptional hat-trick production against the Swedes and only picked up momentum from there as he accumulated fourteen points in just five games throughout the tournament. With one of the more remarkable U18 tournament performances in Canadian history, Wright’s impact was clearly evident as he added in a two-goal championship game performance on his way towards bolstering Team Canada to their first U18 gold medal since 2013 with a 5-3 win over Russia. This acrylic Team Canada logo hockey puck is autographed by Shane Wright. Wright’s signature was witnessed by an Upper Deck representative as part of UDA’s 5-step authentication process.
