The Golden State Warriors have been a source of pride for the Bay Area since their move from Philadelphia in 1962. After spending nine seasons, the team moved across the San Francisco Bay to Oakland and adopted the “Golden State” moniker to represent California. The Warriors had some early success in their new home, including a championship in 1975. Despite many down years following this title, the fans’ love for the team never wavered and they always stayed loyal. These starving fans were rewarded as the Warriors reloaded in the 2010s, led by point guard Steph Curry, and became a dynasty. The two-time NBA MVP helped establish a winning culture and guide the team to three championships in four years before adding another title four years later. Now back in San Francisco, the Warriors’ core (still starring Curry) gives fans in the Bay Area something to be proud of for years to come.
