Description

The 1987 Canada Cup is one of the most important moments in Team Canada history. Team Canada defeated hockey powerhouse the Soviet Union two games to one to capture the 1987 Labatt Canada Cup. This was the only time that Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux would play on the same forward unit. The two stars lead the team in scoring and made some of the most memorable plays of the tournament. After falling 6-5 in game one, Team Canada returned the favor with a 6-5 double overtime victory in which Gretzky recorded 5 assists, three of which went to Mario Lemieux including the final goal. This game is considered by many as the greatest hockey game ever played. This “87′ Canada Cup Celebration” is a 16″ x 20″ image that shows Gretzky celebrating with his stick in the air after assisting on the Lemieux’s final goal in game 2. Wayne has signed this image in black paint pen. Gretzky’s signature was witnessed under UDA’s Five-Step Authentication Process.
